About Our Club
Exploring and celebrating the French language and Francophone cultures at The Technical University of Kenya (TUK)
Who We Are
The TUK French Club is a dynamic and inclusive student organization at the Technical University of Kenya (TUK), dedicated to fostering a love for the French language and Francophone cultures. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced learner, our club provides a welcoming space for students to explore, practice, and celebrate all things French. Through interactive sessions, cultural events, and collaborative projects, we create opportunities for members to grow linguistically and culturally.
Founded in 2015, our club has grown from a small group of French enthusiasts to a vibrant community of over 200 members from various academic disciplines. We believe that language learning goes beyond the classroom, and our activities reflect this philosophy by integrating language practice with cultural immersion and social interaction.
Our Mission
We enhance French language skills, nurture talent, and promote cultural exchange at The Technical University of Kenya (TUK). Our History
Club Foundation
The TUK French Club was established by a group of 15 passionate students who wanted to create a platform for practicing French outside the classroom. With support from the Department of Languages, the club officially launched in September 2015.
Expansion & Recognition
By 2017, our membership had grown to over 50 students. We organized our first French Cultural Festival, which attracted participants from other universities and recognition from the French Embassy in Kenya.
Strategic Partnerships
We established formal partnerships with Alliance Française and the French Embassy, which opened doors for scholarships, exchange programs, and resources for our members. Our debate team won its first national competition.
Where We Are Now
Today, with over 200 active members, we have become one of the most vibrant student organizations at TUK. We continue to expand our activities and impact, with several of our alumni pursuing further studies or employment opportunities in France and other Francophone countries.
